In 1908 Johanssons\u00b4s boarding-house opened what is now \u2018Granberg\u00b4s handel\u2019 (shop), on the ground floor. In 1917 the primary school was moved into a newly built school and Johansson\u00b4s boarding-house bought the school\u00b4s old buildings and could expand their business.<\/p>\n<p>Johansson\u00b4s boarding-house was bought by the Olof A. Eriksson family in 1947. In 1949 the business was purchased by the Milk Board and the name was changed to T\u00e4llbergsg\u00e5rden. 1961-72 T\u00e4llbergsg\u00e5rden was owned by the Georg Sj\u00f6holm family. In 1972 the Brygt Bert Lindgren family took over. They sold T\u00e4llbergsg\u00e5rden to the new owners Maj and Per-Arne Bj\u00f6rk, who then passed on the business to the \u00c5kerblad family in 1994. In the lobby you will find old photographs of T\u00e4llbergsg\u00e5rden from the beginning of the 1900\u00b4s. Even the car from that time which met guests at the station is featured. In the lounge several candles are usually lit and there is most often an open fire. Ivar Nyberg, an artist from Dalarna, is featured here in perhaps his best known painting \u2018Hush\u00e5llsbestyr\u2019(household chores). This will give some insight into how the local women worked in earlier times.<\/p>\n<p>The first thing that will surely catch your eye in the dining-room is the chandelier over the circular buffet-table. This was specially made by \u2018K\u00e4ck&amp;Hedby\u2019 using old, smaller chandeliers as a model. When the 16 candles are lit in such a setting, it is easy to think back to old, well-furnished houses in this tract. In the dining-room, which was a classroom in the old village primary school, one feels the atmosphere of Dalarna and its well-known \u2019kurbits\u2019-paintings(a characteristically decorative type of painting in this area).<\/p>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\n\t\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"row align-middle\"  id=\"row-1226716026\">\n\n\t<div id=\"col-975584384\" class=\"col medium-7 small-12 large-7\"  >\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"col-inner\"  >\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\n<p>The walls in the dining-room are of red-painted timber, which are also the original walls from before extensions were made. The dining-room is enhanced by hand-made oak-tables. The upper part of the surrounding walls features poems painted by a local \u2018kurbits\u2019-artist\u2019 Anna Hurtig. These provide examples of poets such as Karlfeldt, Paul Lundh, Per Johannes, some of our earlier local talents. One of Dalarna\u00b4s foremost \u2018kurbits\u2019-painters is also featured. This is Hans Prins, who depicts in five paintings, the seasons and the ceremony showing the bridal pair in their carriage on their way to the wedding.<\/p>\n<p>We will take you down a flight of stairs to one of our larger lounges \u2018G\u00e4stabudssalen\u2019. This name tells us about the kind of activities which can take place here i.e. entertaining guests. Festivities of various kinds and entertainment which the hotel adapts to suit each holiday, tradition and guests\u00b4 own requirements. The most striking are the five framed Dalarna paintings. The artist Hans Prins has here created copies of the paintings which are in museums. These five are his originals with a palette as those in the museums, thus the finish is slightly matt due to the passage of time. At certain times of the year our most frequent guests here are those attending conferences. The most modern equipment is placed so that it is tasteful an d functional. Here is the Nativity scene with its various details: the three kings who come from the parishes Mora, R\u00e4ttvik and Leksand, people from Dalarna in their everyday clothing and with tools. And certainly not to be forgotten, the hotel\u00b4s dog Tim, sadly no longer with us, who is also featured in one corner. *The artist behind this unique work is Gunnar W\u00e5hlin from Stockholm, a frequent guest at the hotel. Once in \u2018Gillestugan\u2019 which is the hotel\u00b4s original room for parties and evening activities you also see a strip of \u2019kurbits\u2019 hand-painted on canvas by Anna Hurtig. In the middle of this is a verse taken from Karlfeldt\u00b4s poem \u2018Kurbitsm\u00e5lning\u2019. It is way of trying to create a picture in words of this flower, since he had failed with brush and palette to convey its stately qualities. And last but not least, from all the rooms we have looked at you will see the panorama over Lake Siljan with the distant blue hills. A magnificent view!
